Driving FAQs Technical FAQs Purchasing FAQs
Is the Gorilla easy to drive ?
The Gorilla is probably the easiest vehicle to drive - ever made.
Turn the key.
Twist the throttle to make it go.
Un-twist and the regen braking slows it to a stop.
Pull the hand brakes for precision stopping.
No shifting, clutching, or gear levers.
Even reverse is simply the throw of a switch.

Is it easy to get on the Gorilla?
The seat is only 19" above the floorboards.  It is very easy to mount by stepping up on one floorboard, swinging the other leg over the seat, while holding onto the handlebar.
Very Easy!

Is it Comfortable?
The seating position is very comfortable, similar to a touring motorcycle designed for long distances.
Spring suspensions front and rear, and low-pressure tires absorb road shocks, but still provide a flat ride for safely negotiating turns.
A padded seat is standard equipment on the Gorilla.
4-Wheel ATV Magazine gave us highest ratings for ergonomics, feel, and access to controls.

Can I Drive My Gorilla on the Street ?
Maybe.
1.  The faster Gorilla can be configured as a NEV (Neighborhood Electric Vehicle), meeting the requirements of nhtsa/dot 49CFR571.500 making it legal to drive on streets with speed limits of less than 35 mph
In California, refer to DMV code 385.5.
There are similar laws in over 30 other states.
We offer accessories to meet all of these requirements.
2.  California (DMV code 407) allows the use of the Gorilla on streets; if the person is physically disabled, or a senior citizen (over 62).  There may be similar laws in your state.
3.  Some local communities allow the use of golf carts and similar vehicles on city streets.  Some safety equipment will be required.

How long does it take to charge ?
A full charge (from 80% discharge) takes overnight (8+ hours).  At less of a discharge, it will take proportionately less time.
(see GorillaSpecs for much more battery and charger info.)

Do I have to use your batteries ?
We built the Gorilla to use any lead-acid batteries that add up to 24 or 36 volts (Gorillas are built specifically for either 24 or 36.  You can't switch back and forth.)
The plastic lined battery compartment holds any batteries that are 7" wide or less, less than 14" high, and total  less than 39" long.
(We sell with, or without batteries.)

What motor, controller, charger, etc. do you use ?
We use only the best !
American made motors, controllers, chargers, rear ends and batteries - the same brands used on most golf carts built in the US.

Do I need a special plug or heavy-duty outlet to charge ?
The 110-volt charger plugs into any standard grounded outlet.  It pulls less than 5 amps max, so two or three Gorillas could charge from the same outlet. (see GorillaSpecs for information about charging in other countries)

What is the body made of, and will it hold-up in sunlight ?
The body is made from medium/low density polyethylene with UV inhibitors (just like the plastic kayaks, the newer Coleman Igloos, and McDonald's playground equipment).  It should last for over 20 years in normal use.  In addition, it is easily and inexpensively replaced.

I want to go faster !
Can I ???
We now have a 36 volt, 17-19 Mph version.
contact GorillaTech: info@gorillavehicles.com

Does it come in other colors ?
Red, Green, Black, Tan, Olive Drab, Yellow.
are our standard colors.  Due to the nature of the molding process, it is expensive to change colors.  However, for volume orders (like to match corporate colors), you can get almost any color.  Please send your suggestions for future colors, or contact us for more information about custom colors.

Where can I buy one ?
At your local dealer; or, you can buy direct from the factory (if there is not a dealer in your area).

Is there a dealer in my area ? Ask us: info@gorillavehicles.com

If I have to buy it direct;
how is it shipped, and how much would it cost ?

The Gorilla is delivered by truck on a steel pallet with packing materials on top.  Remove the padding, two bolts, and drive it off.
It will cost about $200 on the West Coast, to over $400 on the East Coast.  Free delivery in Southern California.

Where are Gorillas manufactured ?

MADE IN THE USA

Final assembly is done in Huntington Beach, California from the best quality components from all over the United States.  (The Gorilla is made with over 96% US content.)

How would I get service if I bought it direct ?
Like an electric golf cart, the Gorilla is so reliable that it should not need service for years.
It is so simple that you can probably do your own service
(you can also consult GorillaTech, our tech-line; by email, snail-mail, phone, or FAX).
In addition, any golf cart or utility vehicle shop can provide service.

Where can I get parts ?
Visit your local dealer, direct from Gorilla Vehicles; and many parts are available from any golf cart shop.
